Darien Man Accused Of Threatening Others With Baseball Bat: Police

Police said they responded to a local Darien business on June 15 on a report of an intoxicated man making threats with a baseball bat.

DARIEN, CT — A 66-year-old Darien man is accused of threatening others with a baseball bat at a local business, according to the Darien Police Department.

The man was arrested on June 15 and charged with second-degree threatening and breach of peace, both misdemeanors, police said.

On that date shortly before 8 p.m., officers responded to a liquor store in the 280 block of Tokeneke Road on a report of an intoxicated man who entered the business and began threatening people with a baseball bat, police said.

A reporting party told police that the man was sitting outside drinking an alcoholic beverage in his parked car when he was told to lower his music, police said.

The man became agitated and began to push one of the reporting parties, police said, noting that he picked up a baseball bat and threatened to hit the person.

The man then went into the liquor store and started banging the bat on the ground and threatening to use it, police said.

The man was held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 27.

Three days prior on June 12, the man was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, operating under suspension and creating a public disturbance, police said. A court date for those charges is scheduled for June 23.
