Darien Man Attempts to Kidnap Ex-Girlfriend, Sets Her Vehicle on Fire: Stratford Police

STRATFORD, CT — A Darien man is accused of attempting to kidnap his ex-girlfriend and setting her vehicle on fire outside her Stratford home on Tuesday. The suspect was eventually apprehended in New Canaan, according to police.

Stratford patrol officers responded to a domestic violence incident on Kings College Place on Nov. 15, according to Capt. Frank Eannotti.
Eannotti said responding officers determined that Pedro Oristanio, 29, of Darien, was an ex-boyfriend of the victim and had attempted to abduct her.
Oristanio had also set fire to the victim’s vehicle, which was parked in close proximity to the home, according to Eannotti.

“Detective Bureau personnel responded to the scene and determined the suspect may be en route to one of three different locations outside our jurisdiction,” Eannotti said in a statement. “With assistance from several surrounding towns, Oristanio was taken into custody in New Canaan.”
Oristanio was transported to Stratford police headquarters and charged with second-degree arson, attempted kidnapping, unlawful restraint, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree threatening. He is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
