Darien Man Charged with Felony After Hitting Juvenile with Tennis Racket: PD
The victim had a raised welt on his leg after the incident, according to police.

DARIEN, CT—A Darien man was arrested after he hit a juvenile with a tennis racket at Darien High School, according to police.
Police responded to a complaint from a bystander on Oct. 12 around 6:45 p.m.
Police located a juvenile male and the suspect, a 43-year-old Darien man.

The suspect said that he and the victim went to the courts around 4 p.m. to play tennis and the juvenile became frustrated and started to walk away from the game, according to police.
The suspect claimed to hit the victim in the butt with the soft spot of the racket and the victim claimed he was hit in the leg and butt with the soft part of the racket.

Police took the victim into the building to photograph his injuries. They noted he had a "significant raised red welt" on his upper right leg that was consistent with being hit with the curved part of a racket.
The victim said he hadn't been hit by the suspect prior to the incident and the victim's mother said the same thing.
The suspect was cooperative with police. He was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor. The matter was referred to DCF.
