Darien Mom Develops 'The Game of Mixed Emotions' For Children
A Kickstarter campaign is underway for The Game of Mixed Emotions, a card game that helps children discuss their feelings.

DARIEN, CT — Darien resident Theresa Claire, a mother to three young boys, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for a children's card she developed, called The Game of Mixed Emotions, which she created to help children discuss their feelings.
"The Game of Mixed Emotions is a fun, simple card game designed to teach kids how to talk about their feelings," she writes in the Kickstarter profile. "Research shows that this type of early emotional eduction makes children happier, healthier and more successful, now and for the rest of their lives."
Claire developed the game with licensed psychologist Dr. Melanie Pearl, and the two set out to create a game that is a "way to introduce emotional concepts and vocabulary without sacrificing fun." The game can be played at various levels from simple to complex.

So far, the campaign has generated just under $6,000 from 89 backers. With a week to go in the effort, she is hoping to reach her goal of raising $10,000, which will be used to place a large order of the game with a supplier.
"We started out selling The Game of Mixed Emotions earlier this year to parents and teachers throughout our local Connecticut community," the campaign states. "They had a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for the game, and we saw similar excitement when we brought the idea to toy stores in the region. But the feedback they gave us was that the game had to be less expensive, and the only way to do that is by placing a larger order with one of our suppliers."
