Darien P&Z To Hear Applications For New Businesses At Downtown Property
Three new businesses are being proposed for a downtown Darien property. Here's a preview of the upcoming P&Z Commission meeting.

DARIEN, CT — Darien’s Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled next week to consider several new business applications for 873 Boston Post Road, including proposals for a fitness studio, personal training studio and beauty salon in the downtown commercial district.
The commission will meet Tuesday, May 26, at 7 p.m. in Room 206 at Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road. The meeting is scheduled to be held in person. Public hearings are listed on the agenda.
Among the applications scheduled for public hearing are proposals from Body20 Darien, Countdown Fitness and The Mane Place Beauty Salon, all seeking approval to establish new businesses at 873 Boston Post Road in the Central Business District.

Body20 Darien is seeking approval for a new fitness studio in a roughly 1,420-square-foot first-floor space. This would represent Connecticut's first Body20 location.
According to the company's website, Body20 pairs advanced Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS) technology with personalized one-on-one and small group training.

Countdown Fitness is proposing an appointment-based personal training studio in another first-floor commercial space at the property, while The Mane Place Beauty Salon is seeking approval for a beauty salon in an adjacent 1,422-square-foot space.
The commission also is scheduled to continue a public hearing opened April 28 regarding a proposal from Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church and Person to Person at 1864 Boston Post Road.
The application includes plans for a two-story addition to the food pantry, relocation of a playground, construction of a sports court with lighting, parking lot reconfiguration and related site improvements.
Another public hearing concerns a special permit application from the Darien Arts Center seeking continued use of portions of the Town Hall campus for programming activities, along with proposed modifications.
During the general meeting portion of the agenda, the commission is expected to review a mandatory referral request regarding a proposed extension of the Darien Arts Center lease from June 2026 through June 2036 under state law.
The commission also may hold deliberations on any public hearings closed during the May 26 meeting.
