Darien Parents Charged In Son's Underage Drinking Party: PD

The incident involved about 60 teens and occurred on Jan. 5.

DARIEN, CT — The parents of a Darien teen were issued misdemeanor summons for failing to prevent minors from possessing alcohol on Jan. 5 in connection with their son's underage drinking party, according to Darien police.

Officers were called to the Wrenfield Lane area at about 9:30 p.m. on a report of a large underage drinking party, and as authorities arrived "numerous youths [were seen] running in the area." In all about 60 teens scattered throughout the area in sub-freezing temperatures, according to police.

"The origin of the party was determined to be at [a] residence [on] Wrenfield Lane," wrote Darien police in a statement. "Officers observed several youths inside the residence consuming alcoholic beverages. Officers then met with the homeowners, Serge and Anna Doroshin. Both Serge and Anna stated they allowed their son to have 'some friends over for a small party,' but more began to arrive."

The couple told police that they did not provide any of the alcohol to the teenagers and "did not know they were drinking alcohol." Officers, however, "saw obvious signs of a party."

Charged were Serge Doroshin, 61, and Anna Doroshin, 44. They were released on promises to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 17, and the case was also turned over to the Darien High School Resource Officer for follow up.
