Darien PD Reassures Residents After 'Bomb Threat Hoax'
On Thursday, residents, businesses and schools in Connecticut and across the country received fake bomb threat emails.

DARIEN, CT — Darien police announced Thursday that the department is aware of the email bomb threats sent to residents in Connecticut and across the country, but the threats have been determined to be a hoax.
While the threats do not appear to be credible, the department is still urging residents to use caution if they or their local business or other entity receives such an email.
"Residents and business owners are advised to use all normal precautions and to contact the Darien Police Department should you receive some type of 'threat,'" stated Darien police on the Twitter and Instagram. "Today’s email 'threat' involved the sender demanding Bitcoin payment in order to prevent detonation of the alleged 'bomb.' DO NOT arrange for Bitcoin or any other form of payment in response to receiving this 'threat.'"
