"On behalf of the Darien Police Commission and all the men and women of the Darien Police Department, we congratulate Capt. Marron on his achievement and his stellar performance while attending the FBI National Academy," Anderson said in a news release. "To have two 'Capt. Jeremiah P. Marrons' be nominated to attend the FBI National Academy from the same police agency is a rarity which certainly points directly to the abilities, long-standing performance and professional respect both men well deserve."

The academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. Participants must have a proven record as consummate professionals within their agencies to be selected to attend this program. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions, Darien police said.

The 283rd session consisted of 235 law enforcement officers from 49 states and the District of Columbia. The class also included members of law enforcement agencies from 21 countries, five military organizations and five federal and civilian agencies.

Marron. is the commander of the Darien Police Department Field Services Division and has worked in Darien since 1996.

He served on the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team for nine years and is one of the Department’s Public Information Officers. He has served as the supervisor of the Detective Division, K-9 Unit, SCUBA Team, and Accident Investigation Team, Darien police said.

Marron is a 2016 recipient of the United States Attorney’s Award, holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Sacred Heart University, and is a 2021 graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute for Policing.

The Darien Police Department recently received an FBI National Academy graduation plaque commemorating the achievements of the 16 DPD officers who have successfully completed the FBI National Academy dating back to Session No. 27 in 1944.

Marron’s session number and date of graduation have been added to the plaque which hangs in the department.

A total of 53,671 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Va., the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.
