Darien Police Consider Options for New K-9

K-9 Zulu is nearing retirement age and the department definitely wants to continue to have a police dog.

DARIEN, CT—K-9 Zulu is nearing retirement age and the Police Department is considering its options for a new police dog or dogs.

Police Chief Duane Lovello told the Darienite that the department wants to replace Zulu, a German Shepherd with a Labrador Retriever and possibly a second dog.

A Lab would likely be a better fit for the department because of narcotics work. They also tend to be more easy going than German Shepherds.
