Darien Police Contract OK'd by Board of Selectmen

There is still one more hurdle to the contract because the town's Representative Town Meeting must vote on it.

Darien police officers got a four-year labor contract approved Monday by the Board of Selectmen.

An article in the Darien News said, under the terms of the contract which still must be approved by the town’s Representative Town Meeting, the contract covers 48 patrol officers, sergeants and lieutenants. It’s been under negotiation for months and is retroactive to June 30, 2014.

The contract would pay a raise of 2 percent for that year.

Through fiscal 2017-18, officers would get a 2.5-percent raise.

Built into the contract are provisions to give supervisors scheduling flexibility which could produce savings on overtime.
