Darien Police Department Hires New Officer

Currently a Westport resident, the new officer grew up in New Canaan.

DARIEN, CT — Burr "BJ" Allen, a New Canaan native and current Westport resident, has joined the Darien Police Department as its newest officer, the department announced this week.

Officer Allen joins the Darien force after spending the past year and a half with the New Haven Police Department. Prior to starting his career in Law Enforcement, Officer Allen was employed as a Psychiatric Technician at Stamford Hospital.

Allen grew up in New Canaan, graduating high school from the Berkshire School in Massachusetts, and continued his education at Susquehanna Universityin Selinsgrove, PA , where he was a member of both the football and lacrosse teams.

He was sworn in during a meeting of the Darien Police Commission on July 5. “

"I’m really excited about working in a town similar to the one I grew up in," said Allen when asked about the transition from New Haven to Darien.

Allen resides in Westport with his girlfriend of five years, and enjoys staying active and being involved in sports, according to the department.
