Darien Police Department Seeks New Officer Candidates

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Police Department announced this week that it is accepting applications for the full-time job of entry level Probationary Police Officer.

The position carries a salary of between $69,534 and $98,941, and candidates "must have earned a minimum of 60 credits from an accredited college or university, OR a minimum of two years full active military duty plus 30 credits, OR previous law enforcement experience plus 30 credits." Additionally, applicants must be at least 21 years old at the time they submit their application.

"Prior police experience will be evaluated on a case by case basis, however certified officers must participate in the full Entry Level testing process," department officials stated.

Applicants also must have a valid Complete Health and Injury Prevention (CHIP) card and a score of 75 percent or above on the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) Entry Level Written Exam.

"In addition, potential candidates will be required to complete and successfully pass a staff interview, Police Commission interview, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, medical examination and a thorough background investigation."
