Darien Police Detective Retires After 27-Plus Years
Det. Mark Cappelli retired last week after nearly three decades of service to the Darien Police Department.

DARIEN, CT — Last Thursday, the Darien Police Department marked the last day of service and honored the career of Det. Mark Cappelli, who was appointed on Aug. 13, 1995, and officially retired April 1.
The department released the following statement on its website:
"Cappelli has faithfully served with honor and distinction in many aspects and facets of our departmental operations; Field Services, Investigative Services, Marine Division, and Youth Services.

Detective Cappelli; for your 27 years and 8 months of dedicated and honorable service to the Darien Police Department and to the Town of Darien as a whole, we offer our best wishes for a long and prosperous retirement and extend our best to your family as well.
Wherever your journey may take you next, on land or on sea, we wish you all the best in the years ahead. We wish you and your entire family good health and happiness in the next chapter of your lives. In recognition of your service and well earned retirement, we have today permanently affixed your name, rank, and years of service, the 101st such name to be displayed, to a brick on the Wall of Career Officers at Police Headquarters in recognition of your honorable service to the Town of Darien. Congratulations!"
