Darien Police Investigating Serious Accident
A passenger was ejected from the vehicle and sustained very serious injuries, according to police.

DARIEN, CT—Police are investigating a serious accident on Hanson Road that sent multiple people to the hospital Saturday night.
Police responded around 9:30 p.m. A vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Darien man drove off the roadway, struck a stone wall and collided with a tree.
A 21-year-old front passenger was ejected from his seat, said Sgt. Jeremiah Marron, police spokesman. He has very serious injuries and is in stable condition in the Stamford Hospital ICU.

The vehicle then careened across both lanes of traffic on Hanson Road and struck a second tree before coming to rest.
The driver and rear seat passenger were transported to the hospital and were released with minor injuries.

Darien Police Accident Investigation Team responded and the roadway was closed for more than three hours.
"Initial investigation has revealed that excessive speed was a contributing factor in the collision," Marron said.
