Darien Police Make 4th of July Weekend DUI Arrest
Police also dealt with a heavily intoxicated teen at the fireworks in another incident.

DUI Arrest
A Stamford woman was arrested for DUI after she was found to be driving on the wrong way of a one-way street, according to police.

An officer followed two vehicles that were driving the wrong way on Center Street July 3 shortly before 2 a.m. He followed one vehicle that was eventually stopped on Mansfield Avenue after it also crossed over the double yellow line.
Operator Karen Danks-Martinelli, 52, had glassy eyes, slurred speech and the odor of alcohol emanated from her vehicle, police said.

She failed a field sobriety test and refused a breath test, according to police. She allegedly admitted first to having a glass or two of wine and later said she had a beer and a shot of fireball.
Officers also noted that she said she was returning home from Rowayton, but her direction of travel was going toward Rowayton.
She was charged with DUI, failure to drive right, operating the wrong way on a one-way street and failure to carry license.
Intoxicated Teen at Fireworks
A 15-year-old Darien teen was treated by EMS and released to her parents after she became intoxicated and vomited at the fireworks July 2.
She was with another teen girl who ran away when officers approached. Her parents picked her up and brought her home after EMS determined it was safe to do so.
No charges were filed.
