Darien Police Make DUI Arrest After Man Drives Wrong Way: PD

The driver gave a big clue to police that something was amiss, police said.

DARIEN, CT — A 24-year-old Trumbull man was charged with DUI after he drove the wrong way on a divided highway Jan. 15, police said.

An officer in the Tokeneke Road area near I-95 around 1:49 a.m. saw the vehicle travel north in the southbound lane around the island that intersects with Old Farm Road, police said.

The driver, Devon Lee Dedering smelled of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests, according to police. His BAC results came back as .1453 and .1518, both over the legal limit of .08.

He said he was drinking at a local bar in Darien and became lost on his way home to Trumbull, police said.

He was released on a $100 bond.
