Darien Police Recover Weapon Left In Roadway

DARIEN, CT — A report of "what appeared to be a rifle in the road" on Ox Ridge Lane in Darien early last week turned out to be a BB rifle, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the area near Hollow Tree Ridge Road at about 9 a.m. on Oct. 9 after a call of the discovery.

"Upon arrival, a Daisy 'Red Rider' BB gun was found in the roadway," wrote Darien police in a statement. "At the time of this release, there is nothing to suggest thatthe BB rifle was involved in any criminal activity."

Officials are asking anyone with information about the BB gun to contact the department at 203-662-5300.
