Darien Police Seize 67 Guns After Narcotics Arrest

An arrest involving heroin led police to seize 67 firearms, according to police.

A Darien man’s arrest led police to seize 67 firearms from his home, according to police.

An officer noticed a car with very dark window tints driving near Old Kings Highway North on Nov. 5. The vehicle was stopped and operator Joezef Tarnowsky, 25, of Richmond Drive told police he wasn’t aware the tints were illegal. He appeared nervous so the officer asked him to step out of the vehicle, police said.

Tarnowsky admitted to being in possession of syringes used to inject heroin, police said. He handed the syringes and wax folds containing heroin to police. A subsequent search yielded more wax folds and a prescription suboxone strip that didn’t belong to him.

Police executed a search warrant at his Richmond Drive home where he lives with his father. Police seized 67 firearms using a risk warrant due to Tarnowsky’s narcotic possession, police said. His father was cooperative with police.
