Darien Police Warn Residents Of Phone Scams
The Darien Police Department issued an advisory on Tuesday.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Police Department issued an advisory on Tuesday, reminding residents to be aware of phone scams.
"No legitimate law enforcement or governmental agency will ever ask you over the phone to provide credit card information or to ever pay or wire money for the purposes of clearing up an alleged criminal matter such as an outstanding warrant or for failing to appear in court," the DPD said in the advisory."These requests or inquiries may come from someone purporting to be a member of your local law enforcement agency using a valid name and phone number, but this is a common scam that takes place across the country."
Residents should not provide personal identifying or financial information. Residents who are victimized and suffer a loss are encouraged to contact the DPD at 203-662-5300.
