Darien High School Quiz Bowl Team places 2nd at Uconn Tournament

On Saturday February 21st, the Darien High School Quiz Bowl A team placed 2nd at the Connecticut Invitational, a quiz bowl tournament hosted by the University of Connecticut and E.O. Smith High School. The team of Michael Borecki, Molly Bell, Julia Tong, Brendan Berrigan, and Johnathan Stimpson went 6-1 on the day, losing to Lexington (MA) A in the tournament final.

Quiz Bowl is a competition that pits teams of students against each other as they answer in-depth questions about a wide range of academic topics, including literature, science, history, current events, and the arts. Players must have quick recall as well as more knowledge than their opponents in order to be the first to get the right answer.

Darien’s B team placed 12th out of the 18 teams at the tournament after going 2-5. The team’s members were Andrew Benz, Dane Cahoon, Claire Borecki, and Liz Borecki.
