Darien Reopens Beaches And Parks Under Strict Guidelines

The town's beaches will only be open to residents with vehicle passes.

DARIEN, CT — Darien reopened its beaches and parks on Thursday under strict guidelines, First Selectman Jayme Stevenson announced. The move marks the first round of reopenings in town as the coronavirus shutdown slowly begins to fade.

The town's beaches will only be open to residents with vehicle passes; daily passes will not be sold at the gate.

Large group gatherings are prohibited, and social distancing protocols are still in effect. Additionally, lifeguards will not be on duty until further notice.

The concession stand will be closed, and trash cans have been removed. Attendees must take all of their litter with them when they leave.

As for the parks, social distancing protocols will apply, including wearing masks if 6 feet of distance cannot be maintained.

Playgrounds and athletic fields remain closed, as do the paddle tennis courts. Tennis and pickleball courts are open but only for singles play.

Picnic tables have been removed, and using gazebos and other gathering areas are prohibited.
