Darien Republicans Decline To Nominate Board of Ed Chair For Re-Election: Report

It came down to three Republicans vying for two nominating spots.

DARIEN, CT — Michael Harman, Chair of the Darien Board of Education since 2015, was not endorsed by his fellow Republicans recently to run for re-election, bringing his six-year tenure on the board to a close after this fall's election, reports the Darien Times.

Instead, the Darien Republican Town Committee has endorsed incumbent David Dineen and Dennis Maroney.

The committee did not publicly disclose specific reasons for the change, which was decided upon following recent discussions in executive session. But officials told the publication that it was a tough decision because Harman, Dineen and Maroney are all "highly qualified candidates."
