Darien and Rowayton Featured in Al Jazeera Report on Heroin

The two areas were the focus of an Al Jazeera report on heroin in suburban communities.

Darien’s experience with fighting the heroin epidemic was part of an Al Jazeera America segment highlighting the drug’s growth in parts of the country.

Police Sgt. Jeremiah Marron said the amount of heroin use is nothing like he’s ever seen during his 20-year law enforcement career.

Prescription painkillers can go for $80 per pill on the street where a bag of heroin is just $10, according to the report.
