Darien RTM Approves Town, Board Of Education Budgets

DARIEN, CT — On Monday night, the Representative Town Meeting voted to approve Darien's municipal and Board of Education budgets for fiscal year 2022-2023.

According to the Darien Times, the budget is the largest in the town's history. The town budget weighs-in at $48.4 million, and the Board of Education operating budget is $110.6 million. The mill rate stands at 17.23, which is a 2.32 percent increase from fiscal year 2021-2022, the Darien Times reported.

Of note, the Darien Times said that $2.9 million was transferred from the town's general fund to help fund major capital projects.

Additionally, the town's spending plan includes $870,000 for new sidewalks and $450,000 for construction on the track at Darien High School.
