Darien RTM To Consider $475K Great Island Appropriation
Here's what's on tap for the Darien Representative Town Meeting on Thursday night.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Representative Town Meeting is scheduled Thursday night to consider a six-figure appropriation and bond authorization to advance planning and design work for public access improvements at Great Island.
The RTM will meet Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium, according to the agenda. The meeting was originally scheduled for Monday but was postponed due to the blizzard.
One of the items listed on the agenda is a proposed appropriation and bond authorization totaling $475,402 for the Great Island Early Access Project, listed for discussion and possible action. The funding would cover costs associated with planning and design work, including architectural and engineering services, site and stormwater design, landscaping, accessibility improvements, and related legal and administrative expenses.

Accompanying materials indicate the request is intended to move the project through a permit-ready design phase, with no construction proposed at this stage. The work would support phased public access to Great Island, focusing on items such as parking, pedestrian access, site circulation, utilities, and environmental considerations.
Also on the agenda is a budget update and ARPA report. Additionally, the RTM is scheduled to consider a request for an electric distribution easement on town-owned parkland on Parklands Drive. The item involves granting an easement to Eversource Energy to formalize access to existing utility infrastructure and is listed for discussion and possible action.

Other business includes the appointment of RTM members to the Board of Ethics to fill expiring terms and a resignation, as well as routine procedural items.
