Darien School Again Deals With Anti-Semitic Slur: Report

For the second time in as many months, a Swastika was found at Middlesex Middle School.

DARIEN, CT — For the second time in as many months, Middlesex Middle School is again dealing with the discovery of a Swastika scrawled on a desk, reports the Darien Times.

The anti-Semitic slur was found by a student who reported it to school staff. Patch reached out to Middlesex Middle School Principal Shelley Somers for comment but did not immediately receive a reply.

In an email to parents, Somers discussed the discovery and the steps the school is taking to educate students of the hateful nature of the symbol. Those actions include lesson plans designed address social emotional learning, and assemblies on Nov. 7 that have been co-organized with the Anti-Defamation League.

Just after the start of school in September, the school and local police investigated after three Swastikas were discovered scrawled on exterior windows at the school.

In both the September and October incidents, the person or persons responsible were not found.
