Darien School System's New Fitch Academy Debuts

DARIEN, CT — A new alternative high school for targeted students debuted this fall at the Darien Library.

Called Fitch Academy, the school launched with just over a half-dozen local families signed up, reports the Darien Times.

The school is designed to assist students with health and/or chronic illness issues, attendance problems, or other concerns. "Our mission is committed to meeting the unique educational, social, and emotional needs of our students in a safe and nurturing environment," wrote school officials in a statement.

It is part of Darien High School, and students who are enrolled can participate in sports, clubs and other school activities, according to the brochure.
