Darien Scores and Standings, Aug. 30

Patch's daily digest of Darien sports.

Football: As of Monday night, Darien football scrimmage against Hillhouse, scheduled for Tuesday at 3 p.m., was still on.   

All Darien public schools will be closed again on Tuesday due to the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. As of Monday afternoon, 4,000 Darien residents were still without power.

Darien is set to visit Branford at Saturday (9 a.m.) in its second preseason scrimmage.

Rowing: The lightweight men’s double sculls team of Rowayton's Brian de Regt and New Haven's Jon Winter will compete in the quarterfinals of the World Rowing Championships on Wednesday in Bled, Slovakia.

The pair finished second in its heat on Sunday behind Italy to advance in the competition.
