2 Darien Lax Players Commit to College Play

Two lacrosse players from Darien recently announced verbal commitments to play the sport at Division I colleges.

Jeff Kratky, who is a junior at Taft,  plans to attend Virginia and Sean Foley, a junior at Darien, intends to join his older brother Tyler, a 2009 Darien graduate, at Lehigh.

A faceoff specialist, the 6-foot, 175-pound Kratky also considered Cornell and Harvard. But in the end, he opted for the Cavaliers, a perennial power in NCAA lacrosse.

"Virginia has a great combination of academics and lacrosse, which is very important to me," Kratky told laxlessions.com. "When I visited, the guys on the team were all very welcoming and I loved the campus. Coach (Dom) Starsia also toured me and my parents around campus all morning and made us feel right at home. It was a very tough decision, but in the end I could see myself being happiest at Virginia for four years."

Here is a scrimmage schedule for the Darien girls and boys basketball and boys and girls hockey teams:
