Juniors Kelly Kosnik and Riley Sousa recently became captains of the 2012 Darien girls volleyball team.
They will take over the role from this year's captains Charlotte Stevenson, Katie Stuber, and Amanda Sommi. Kosnik and Sousa have been on the varsity team since their freshmen year.

Darien (23-1) won its 10th straight FCIAC title this past season but lost to Southington in the semifinals of the Class LL state tournament.

While the girls basketball season gets under way on Wednesday, Darien won't play its first game until Friday when it visits Fairfield Ludlowe in a 7 p.m. tip.
The Blue Wave is coming off a solid 11-9 season in which they qualified for the FCIAC playoffs. However, Darien was upset by Wilton, the team it beat out for the final FCIAC playoff spot, in the first round of the Class L state tournament.
Darien returns two of its leading scorers in center Meg Marren and guard-forward Katie Bushell, who both started as sophomores last season.
Marren led the team in scoring at 16.6 points per game and Bushell was third at 9.8.
The Blue Wave will miss team leader and sparkplug Nicole Buch, who contributed 12.6 points per outing last season.
