1. Darien girls basketball hammers McMahon
Meg Marren scored 14 points Tuesday as the girls basketball posted a 50-34 victory over McMahon.

Emily Stein added 12 for the Blue Wave, who improved to 9-6 overall and 8-5 in the FCIAC and kept pace with the other playoff contenders.
Darien is in a remarkable six-way tie for sixth in the standings with Westhill, Norwalk, Staples, Stamford and Fairfield Warde heading into a difficult four-game stretch in which the Blue Wave will play Norwalk, Wilton, Stamford and Warde.

Norwalk upset St. Joseph and Staples suprised Wilton on Tuesday to keep the race for the final few playoff spots as jumbled as ever.
Kyle Courtney, Karly Barreno and Aleigh Fitzpatrick each had six points for the Senators, who dropped to 3-13.
2. Darien boys fall to McMahon
The McMahon boys basketball team garnered its second win of the season Tuesday with a 51-36 victory over Darien,
Darkym Stroud led a balanced attack for the Senators with just nine points. Larry McKinney and Shaka Moore each had eight for McMahon, which improved to 2-12 and 2-10.
George Phillips scored 17 points and Liam Naughton added eight for Darien, which dropped to 2-12 and 1-11.
The contest was close in the first quarter with the Senators holding a 14-10 lead.
However. McMahon outscored Darien 13-2 in the second quarter to build a 27-12 margin at the intermission.
3. Red-hot Darien boys hockey team visits St. Joseph
The Darien High School boys hockey team puts its seven-game winning streak on the line Wednesday when the Blue Wave visits St. Joseph at the Shelton Rinks (8:30 p.m.)
The Blue Wave are coming off a pair of blowouts, routing Staples-Weston-Shelton 8-0 and Norwalk-McMahon 9-2 in their last two games to improve to 8-3.
Darien also has been stingy during the streak, allowing just six goals as Max Rothston has been superb in net.
However, St. Joseph also has been hot, winning its last four games to improve to 9-4.
Like Darien, the Cadets have been filling the net, scoring 17 goals in their two games, a 10-0 drubbing of Norwalk-McMahon and a 7-4 win over Trinity Catholic on Saturday.
The turning point for St. Joseph may have come on Jan. 18, when they rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat Trumbull 4-3 on a goal in the final minute.
The Darien girls team is at Stamford in a 8:40 p.m. start at the Terry Conners Rink.
