Darien High Jumper Lombardo Earns All-FCIAC Honors

1. FCIAC honors for Lombardo
Darien's Nicholas Lombardo jumped for All-FCIAC honors at the FCIAC boys indoor track and field championships held on Thursday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

Lombardo's 20-08.50 jump earned him a second-place finish in the long jump and a spot on the All-FCIAC team, which honors the winners and runners up in each event.
Lombardo also placed fifth in the high jump with a 5-08.00 leap. Darien thrower Will Lochtefeld also made the All-FCIAC team, finishing second in the shot put with his 44-02.25 throw.

Darien finished sixth out of 18 teams in the meet.
2. Darien boys hockey blanks Stamford
Six different players scored goals Saturday as the red-hot boys hockey team rolled to a 6-0 victory over Stamford at the Darien Ice Rink.
Scoring for Darien were Tommy Watters, Alec Foresta, Robert Juterbock, Trent Bergin, Brendan Hathaway and George Gregory. Watters also added a pair of assists.
It was the ninth straight win for the Blue Wave, who improved to 10-3.
Max Rothston (13) and Hunter Bartram (8) combined to make 21 saves for the shutout.
Darien is back in action on Wednesday when the Blue Wave visits Trumbull at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
3. Darien girls basketball falls to Norwalk
The Darien girls basketball team dropped a 66-53 decision to Norwalk on Friday in a game with major FCIAC playoff implications.
Meg Marren scored 24 points and Kate Bushell added 15 for the Blue Wave, who had a two-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 9-7 and 8-6.
Emma Oyomba had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bears, who improved to 11-5 and 9-5.
Katie Schmidt scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Norwalk while Alexis Noonan also reached double figures for the Bears with 11 points.
Norwalk ended the night in a three-way tie for sixth in the FCIAC standings with Stamford and Staples.
Darien dropped into a three-way tie for ninth wiith Farield Warde and Westhill.
4. Darien boys also fall to Norwalk
The Norwalk boys basketball team hammered Darien 53-32 on Friday night.
Roy Kane scored 15 points to lead the Bears, who improved to 9-6 and 7-6.
Rasheen Thompson,Jabari Dear and Saeed Soulemane each added seven points for Norwalk, which holds the ninth spot in the FCIAC playoff race, one-half game behind Danbury and Greenwich, who are tied for eighth.
Darien dropped to 2-13 and 1-12. Liam Naughton scored 11 points and Thomas MacLean added 10 for the Blue Wave.
Norwalk jumped out to a 17-10 lead after the first quarter and held a 26-16 advantage at the half. The Bears then outscored the Blue Wave 27-16 in the second half.
Darien jumped out to a 23-21 lead after the first quarter and 36-32 lead at halftime, but Norwalk's defense stiffened thereafter as the Bears outscored Darien 34-17 in the second half.
