With the season starting to head down the stretch, every game is critical at this point for the Darien girls basketball team as it hopes to return to the FCIAC playoffs.

The Blue Wave are coming off a tough 55-36 loss to undefeated Danbury on Tuesday, but they have an easier time on Friday when they host Harding at 7 p.m.

The Presidents enter the game just 3-11 overall and 1-11 in the FCIAC, although they beat winless Bassick on Tuesday.

Darien (7-6, 6-5) currently is out of a playoff spot in the FCIAC, but the Blue Wave are only one-half game behind eighth-place Trinity Catholic and just one game in back on Stamford, Staples and Westhill.

This is the first of two straight must-win games for the Blue Wave as they face McMahon on Tuesday.

The Darien boys, who were competitive in a 68-56 loss at Danbury on Tuesday, travel to Bridgeport to take on the Presidents in a 7 p.m. start.

This is a battle of teams looking for their second FCIAC victories of the season. Darien's only league came against New Canaan while Harding defeated Wilton for its lone FCIAC triumph.

Darien is 2-10 overall and 1-9 in the league, and Harding enters the contest with the same record. The Presidents were crushed by Bassick 103-51 on Tuesday.

For Darien, Liam Naughton scored 16 points against Danbury and Kyle Green added 13.  George Phillips had 12 and Matt Lee chipped in with 11 points.
