• Swimming: The Darien YMCA Piranhas swim team traveled to Brookfield and Middletown this past weekend for the Connecticut regional championship and 75 percent of the swimmers posted lifetime-best performances.
Regional champions included three-time winner Zac Pear (100 Fly, 100 Back and 50 Back), two-time winner Rachel Stobbie (50 free and 50 fly) and Liz Kearney (100 Breast) and Hadley Merrill (200 Fly).

The swimmers who posted personal-best times were: Eric Liu, Pear, Lauren Rutledge, George Sarbinowski, Stobbie, Parker Ward, Ben Zhao, Conway Zhou, Sheena Zhou, Caroline Kearney, Lia Barsanti, Becca Maroney, Maggie Orem, Amelia Ornato, Matt Ross, Sam Schrenker, Megan Slaughter and Michelle Wall.
• American Legion: The Darien/New Canaan senior American Legion baseball squad dropped a pair of close games over the weekend to the top two teams in zone four, falling to Greenwich 3-1 on Saturday and 9-8 to Norwalk on Sunday.

The two defeats left Darien/NC with a 10-12 record, but the team bounced back in a big way Monday, drubbing Wilton 18-2 to keep its playoff hopes alive.
At 11-12, Darien/NC silll needs to win three of its final four games to make the state tournament.
The junior team split its two games over the weekend, losing to first-place Stamford 5-3 on Saturday but rebounding to defeat winless Bridgeport 15-6 on Sunday.
Darien (11-12) then suffered a damaging 4-2 loss toTrumbull on Monday, meaning it now needs to win its final four games to earn a postseason berth. Darien plays at Wilton on Tuesday (5:45 p.m) at the Wilton JV field.
• Little League: Darien American, the top seed in pool B, will take on pool A runner-up North Stamford in the semifinals on Wednesday in the District One 12-year-old Little League tournamen. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at Stamford Springdale.
Wilton, the runner-up in pool B, will face Stamford's National Lione, the top seed in pool A, in the other semifinal on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Springdale. The final is set for Sunday at 4 p.m. at Stamford's Scalzi Park.
The semifinals also are set in the 11-year-old baseball tournament. On Thursday, Darien National takes on Ridgefield National (5:30 p.m.) and Wilton faces North Stamford (7:30 p.m.) at Springdale.
• Babe Ruth: The Darien 13-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars, which won the town's first Babe Ruth title since 1969 with a 10-2 win over Stamford on Sunday, open play in the state tournament on Saturday in Ridgefield.
