Volleyball: The Darien boys volleyball team aims for its second state title on Friday when the Blue Wave faces Newington in the CIAC Class M championship at Fairfield Warde.
Darien (21-1), which advanced to the final with a 3-0 win over Fermi on Wednesday, won its only crown with a 3-1 victory over Enfield in 2008 in the Class M final.

Newington got to the final with a 3-2 win over Masuk, which eliminated Darien in the semifinals last season.
Girls lacrosse: On Saturday, Darien (15-7) will face Hand in the Class M girls lacrosse title game. The Blue Wave are seeking their fourth state championship, having won three in a row from 2007-09. Saturday's game is set 1 p.m. at Bunnell High School in Stratford.

After surpassing the 20-goal mark in its first two tournament wins, Darien, which is seeded just 13th, held off rival New Canaan 9-7 in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Hand (17-2) reached the final with a 12-9 overtime win over East Lyme. Overtime in the state tournament is not sudden death. Instead, the teams play two full three-minute periods.
Track and Field: Darien's Elizabeth Crafford will be competing in the 66th annual New England interscholastic outdoor track and field championship in Burlington, Vermont after qualifying third in the pole vault with a jump of 11 feet.
