Alexi Kovalev (Pittsburgh Penguins), Chris Drury (New York Rangers), New Canaan's Max Pacioretty (Montreal Canadiens), James VanRiemsdyk (Philadelphia Flyers) are among the NHL players who have been offered invites to the third annual Big Assist hockey fundraiser.
The exhibition game, hosted by Darien native and Ottawa Senator Ryan Shannon, is set for July 13 at the Terry Conners Rink in Stamford. Numerous local players are expected to attend.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for minors with $75 family packs available two adults and three minors). They can purchased online via paypal at
ohhf.org, or at Blue Line Sports, Barrett Bookstore in Darien, and Fairfield County Bank, both Darien and Rowayton branches.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Obie Harrington-Howes Foundation (OHHF). Obie Harrington Howes, Shannon's first youth hockey coach, was paralyzed in an accident at New York's Jones Beach.

Golf: Greg Reilly of the Country Club of Darien carded a 3-over 74 Monday, leaving him in a tie for 25th after the first round of qualifying in the 109th Connecticut Amateur championship at the Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton.
Devon O'Rourke, also of the CC of Darien, and Peter Ballo of Woodway, who is a star at St. John's, are tied for 37th after shooting 76s.
The low 32 players advance to match play following the second round of qualifying on Tuesday. Two rounds of match play are set for Wednesday and Thursday, leading to the 36-hole final on Friday.
Andrew Winter who helped lead Darien to a surprising 17-0-1 record, was named to the all-FCIAC East boys golf team. For the girls, Izzy Lee was a second team pick and Nicole Granath was named to the honorable mention team.
Darien (13-4) won the FCIAC girls golf title and finished second in the state tournament.
