Darien Scores and Standings, June 3

RESULTS

Track and Field: The Darien boys finished fourth in the Class L track meet on Thursday in Middletown with 62.50 points, placing behind Windsor, Simsbury and Hand. The Darien girls were 25th. Top-10 finishers for the boys were:

  • Stockton McMullen, seventh, 200-meter dash, 23:39
  • Charlie Baird, seventh, 3200 meter run, 10:01.35     
  • Graham Hotchkiss, sixth, high jump, 6-00.00
  • Stockton, ninth, long jump, 20:01.75
  • Peter McDonough, 10th, shot put, 41-11.50

On the girls side, Meagan Keane won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.51 and Elizabeth Crafford took first in the pole vault with a leap of 11-07.25. Other top-10 finishes for the girls included:

  • Catherine Lacy,  100 meter dash: seventh, 13:11
  • Grace Loh, 1,600 meter run, fourth, 5:19.74
  • Crafford, 300 meter hurdles, sixth  48.47
  • Lacey, high jump --third,  5-00 
  • Leah Hotchkiss, high jump, fifth, 4-10 
  • Lee Bolton,pole vault, fourth, 9-06
  • Victoria Kominek, fifth javelin, 107-00

Darien's Gavin McNulty, the No. 13 seed, has reached the second round of the Class L boys tennis tournament, blanking Anthony Ribas of Pomperaug 6-0, 6-0 in the first round on Thursday. He will face North Haven's Charles Hoyt on Saturday.

Rupert Hansford lost his second round match Friday, falling to Joseph McCaffery of East Lyme, 6-2, 6-2. Hansford defeated Wethersfield's Tom Antoniak 6-1, 7-5 on Thursday.

Another Darien player, Calvert Kevorkian, lost to RHAM's Tom Buckley 6-1, 6-1 in the first round  on Thursday.

THURSDAY'S RESULTS

  • Girls lacrosse:  (Class M first round) — Freshman Emily Stein scored four goals for the Blue Wave, who built a 15-0 halftime lead. Dillon Schoen, Brynn Gasparino, Lexie Perticone and Jena Fritts each added three goals for Darien, which will play at No. 5 seed Guilford in the quarterfinals on Monday. 
  • Girls tennis: Hand 5, Darien 2 (Class M semifinals)

FRIDAY'S SCHEDULE

  • Softball: Darien 7, New Canaan 2 (Class L quarterfinals)
  • Boys volleyball: Farmington at Darien, 7 p.m. (Class M quarterfinals)

SATURDAY'S SCHEDULE

  • Boys lacrosse: Fairfield Ludlowe at Darien, 3 p.m. (Class M quarterfinals)
