State Tournaments: The Darien boys lacrosse, boys volleyball and softball teams already have advanced to the semifinals of their state tournaments. Now the girls lacrosse team looks to get there on Monday, when it visit Guilford in the quarterfinals of the CIAC Class M tournament (4 p.m.)

The 13th-seeded Blue Wave (12-8) opened tournament play with a 22-4 drubbing of No. 4 seed Barlow on Thursday.

The top-seeded Darien volleyball team (20-1) will face No. 5 seed Fermi in the semifinals on Tuesday at Oxford at 5 p.m.

The boys lacrosse team (19-2), which is seeking a seventh consecutive state title, will face familiar foe Wilton in the semifinals on Wednesday. The CIAC has not announced the site of that encounter yet.

The Darien softball team plays its semifinal on Monday against Foran at Stratford's Deluca Field at 7 p.m.

Darien's Dominic Hansford and Malcolm Willis have reached the quarterfinals in the doubles competition in the CIAC Class L tennis state championship.

Seeded 12th, they will face Fairfield Ludlowe's tandem of Daniel Adajian of Reid Andren, the No. 3 seeds, on Monday at Bristol Eastern. The matches begin at 4 p.m.

Darien Youth Baseball & Softball:

  • LL Baseball > Major League > Majors Playoffs > Majors Bracket A: Rings End won its second straight in pool play, defeating Noroton Fire Department 4-1 on Saturday. Dylan Neal's RBI single got Rings End on the board in the top of the first before it took advantage of three walks and two hitbatsmen to tack on a pair of runs in the third. Noroton had tied the game in the bottom of the first on  Owen Soule's RBI double off the wall. Neal allowed three hits over five inning, throwing 77 pitches.
  • LL Baseball > Minor League > Minors Playoffs > Minors Bracket B: Palmers Market rallied from a seven-run deficit to defeat Kelly Associates 9-8 on Thursday. Kelly Associates jumped on top with five runs in the third inning and tacked on two more in the fourth for a 7-0 lead. Chris Santoro, John Parkhurst, Declan Goulding, Willie Noble and Braxton Reynolds  led the offense. But Palmers rallied with four runs in the fourth and five in the fifth  CJ Hathaway, Connor Fay, Dylan Buckner and Rickey Howard, Tyler Stimpson and and Alex von Jena keyed the comeback. Kelly got its final run in the sixth on an RBI triple by Reynolds.
  • LL Baseball > Major League > Majors Playoffs > Majors Bracket A: Lawrence Funeral Home rallied to defeat Noroton Fire Department 4-3 in seven innings on Wednesday. LFH trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the sixth, but Harrison Gill led off the inning with a single - his second hit of the game - and scored the tying run on an RBI single by Mitchell Pryor. In the seventh,  Spencer Hillman drew his third walk to load the bases and Andrew Crane followed with a game-winning single.
