• Girls volleyball: Darien is one win away from an 11th consecutive trip to the state finals.
The top-seeded Blue Wave advanced to the Class LL semifinals with a 3-1 (25-17, 25-13, 25-27, 25-22) win over No. 8 Glastonbury on Tuesday night at Darien High School.

Darien, which improved to 23-0, will take on No. 4 Southington in the semifinals on Thursday at Milford's Foran High School at 5 p.m. The Blue Knights advanced with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-11, 25-18) victory over FCIAC finalist Ridgefield.
The Blue Wave were tested a bit on Tuesday, dropping the third game after winning the first two. In the fourth set, Glastonbury closed within 23-22 before Darien won the next two points ti close out the match.

Last season, the Blue Wave were dethroned as nine-time state champions, falling to East Lyme 3-0 in the Class L final. Darien moved up a class for this season.
In Thursday's other semifinal, to be played at Foran at 7:30 p.m., No. 2 Cheshire will take on No. 3 Newtown seed
• Boys soccer: After dethroning archrival New Canaan as Class L state champions with a 1-0 win Monday, the fifth-seeded Darien boys soccer team takes on No. 4 Bunnell in quarterfinals on Wednesday.
The contest will be played at Bunnell at 4 p.m. with the winner advancing to the semifinals against either top seed Wethersfield or No. 8 Brookfield.
Bunnell, which lost to New Canaan in last year's state final, defeated previously unbeaten Pomperaug in the SWC final. In the state tournament, it has knocked off Torrington (4-0) and Naugatuck (3-1).
The Bulldogs enter Wednesday's contest with a 17-2-2 record while the Blue Wave are 14-3-3.
Three FCIAC teams have reached the state quarterfinals as Norwalk takes on Farmington and Trumbull battles Glastonbury in Class LL.
• Field hockey: Top seed Darien (19-1-0-0) takes on No. 4 Wilton (18-3-0-0) in the semifinals of the Class M field hockey state tournament on Wednesday at New Canaan (6 p.m.).
Darien is looking for a fifth consecutive state championship. The winner of Wednesday' contest faces either No. 6 Barlow or No. 7 Branford in the finals on Saturday.
The finals in all three classes will be played in Wethersfield. The times will be determined after the semifinal contests.
