4 Darien Boys Named to All-FCIAC Cross Country First Team

Cross country: Darien placed four runners on the all-FCIAC boys cross country team, tied with Staples for the most in the league.

The Blue Wave harriers who were honored include: Charlie Baird, Michael Johnston, Marshall Huffman and Alex Ostberg.

They formed the nucleus of the Darien team that enjoyed an historic season. After finishing undefeated in the regular season, the Blue Wave won the Class L state title, finished sixth in the state Open meet and ninth in the New England championship.

All together, seven members of Darien's team were honored as Peter Kreuch, Eli Converse and Michael Coe were named to the second team.

The Darien girls also were represened as Grace Loh earned a spot on the first team and McKinley Stauffer and Ellen Baver landed on the second team.

After the girls got under way last week, winter practice begins Monday for boys basketball and hockey.
