• Junior football: Week two of the Fairfield County Football League kicks off this weekend. There are seven towns represented in the league — Fairfield, Westport, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Wilton and Ridgefield.

Saturday's schedule:

• 8:30 a.m.: Senior seventh grade — Darien Senior 7 Blue vs. Fairfield Senior 7 Red
• 10:00 p.m.: Senior eighth grade — Darien Senior 8 Blue vs RYF Senior 8 Orange

Sunday's schedule:

• 8:00 a.m.: Senior eight grade — Darien senior 8 White vs. Wilton Senior 8 Blue
• 9:30 a.m.: Bantam fourth grade — Darien Bantam 4 Blue vs. Wilton Bantam 4 White
• 11 a.m.: Bantam third grade — Darien Bantam 3 Blue vs. Fairfield Bantam 3 Red
• 12:30 p.m.: Bantam third grade — Darien Bantam 3 White vs. RYF Bantam 3 Black
• 2:00 p.m.: Junior sixth grade — Darien Junior 6 Blue vs. Fairfield Junior 6 Red
• 3:30 p.m.: Junior sixth grade — Darien Junior 6 White vs. Westport Junior 6 North

• Football: The Darien football team plays its final preseason scrimmage on Friday when the Blue Wave host McMahon at 4 p.m. at the DHS stadium.

• Boys soccer: The Darien boys soccer plays in the Amity jamboree on Saturday (10 a.m.) in its final preseason scrimmage.

• Field hockey: Darien hosts its annual "Play Day" on Saturday (1 p.m.).

• Girls volleyball: Darien hosts its annual "Play Day" on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. Teams entered are Southington, Coventry, RHAM, Bunnell, Bristol Eastern, Farmington, East Lyme, Rocky Hill. East Lyme swept Darien in the CIAC Class L finals last season, ending the Blue Wave's nine-year reign as state champions.
