Darien Seeded Second in FCIAC Softball Playoffs
The Blue Wave will host No. 7 Fairfield Warde in quarterfinals on Monday.

The Darien softball team (15-2) has earned the no. 2 seed in the FCIAC playoffs, setting up a home game against No. 7 Fairfield Warde (11-7) in Monday's quarterfinals.
As expected, Westhill locked up the No. 1 seed for the with a 12-0 victory over winless Bassick on Saturday. Westhill (17-0) entertains No. 8 Fairfield Ludlowe (10-8). The Falcons won a three-way tiebreaker with Wilton and Staples to grab the final playoff spot.
Westhill and Darien face each other Sunday in the regular-season finale, but the game — which was postponed four times — has lost a bit of its luster as it no longer affects the FCIAC tournament standings. Of course, it could be a preview of the FCIAC championship game.
