Darien Sidewalk Advisory Committee Launches Resident Survey

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Sidewalk Advisory Committee has launched a resident survey to gain feedback from the public.

The committee, with the help of the town's consulting engineers, is evaluating where the town should extend existing sidewalks and/or add new sidewalks to improve pedestrian safety, connectivity, and access to destinations, the town said in a recent social media post.

"This survey is provided by the Darien Advisory Committee on Sidewalks to assess public interest in town sidewalk expansion, high priority locations, and implementation concerns," the survey says. "The Committee will use survey results to provide recommendations to the Board of Selectmen and Department of Public Works."

The committee, which is made up of Darien residents, many with school-aged children, is using a scoring system designed to rank potential sidewalk projects based on data and public feedback.

Ongoing committee meetings are open to the public, and a town-wide public hearing is planned for September.

Final recommendations will be shared with the Board of Selectmen this fall.
