Darien Girls Hockey Eliminated from Playoffs

1. Darien girls hockey eliminated
The girls hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to Guilford on Saturday in a first-round state tournament game at the Darien Ice Rink.

Guilford improved to 11-10-1 and will take on top seed New Canaan on Tuesday. Darien finished its season at 11-8-1
Ellie Bennett scored Darien's only goal in the second period.

Edy Mortiz, Mackenzie Cattaruzza and Lexie Zarillo scored in the middle period to give the Indians a 3-1 lead after two. Julianna Molloy completed the scoring in the third period for Darien.
2. Marren, Bushell earn all-league honors
Darien girls basketball players Meg Marren and Kate Bushell were honored by the FCIAC. Marren earned a spot on the all-FCIAC second team while Bushell landed in the third team.
The duo helped lead Darien to the FCIAC playoffs and a berth in the Class L state tournament. The 1th-seeeded Blue Wave hosts No. 18 Farmington on Tuesday in the first round.
Joining Bushell on the third team were: St. Joseph's Jess Jowdy, Norwalk's Erica Cohens, Ludlowe's Brianna Curran, Darien's Kate Bushell, New Canaan's Courtney Rogers, Trumbull's Erin Moore, Danbury's Rebecca Gartner and Trumbull's Aexa Pfohl.
Joining Marren on the second team were: Wilton's Casey Pearsall and Amy Fulton, Norwalk's Emma Oyomba, Darien's Meg Marren, Warde's Jamera Fountain, Trinity Catholic's Ali Palma, Staples' Erica Stein and Danbury's Rachel Gartner.
Named to the first team were: Danbury's Casey Smith, St. Joseph's Nancy Stablein, Trinity Catholic's Mackenzie Griffin, New Canana's Sarah Mannelly, Stamford's Kelsey Cognetta, Staples' Jess Coelho and Trumbull's Victoria Pfohl.
