Darien Girls Hoops Host Farmington Tuesday

After playing eventual FCIAC champion Danbury tough for a half in the FCIAC quarterfinals, thegirls basketball team will host No. 18 seed Farmington (11-9) in the first round of the Class L state tournament on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Darien, the No. 15 seed, lost to Danbury 63-40 last week, but the contest was close until the fourth quarter when the undefeated Hatters went on a game-ending 21-2 run.

If Darien advances, it would play at No. 2 seed Pomperaug (18-2) in the second round on Friday. Pomperaug, which lost to Lauralton Hall in the championship game of the SWC playoffs, earned a bye in the first round.
Last season, Darien lost its state tournament game at home as a No. 14 seed, falling to FCIAC rival Wilton 35-28 after edging out the Warriors for the final spot in the FCIAC playoffs.
