1. Darien girls hockey beats Wilton
The Darien girls hockey team defeated Wilton 5-2 on Monday at the Winter Garden Arena.

Sara Shaker had two goals for the Blue Wave and Amanda Sload, Allegra Molkenthin and Sammy Nielsen each scored once.
Izzy Scribano made 12 saves for Darien, which improved to 11-4 overall and 9-2 in the FCIAC.

The team will celebrate senior night on Saturday when the Blue Wave hosts Greenwich at the Darien Ice Rink at 6:50 p.m.
2. Darien skiing update
The ski team competed against Amity, Cheshire, Fairfield Prep, St. Luke's and Staples in near spring skiing coinditions at the Mt. Southington Ski Area on Thursday.
The girls varsity team finished second with a time of 346.01, defeating Cheshire (367.09), Amity (371.88) and St. Luke's (DSQ) and losing to Staples (328.47).
The Darien boys placed fifth with a time of 3:42.15, defeating St. Lukes (DSQ) and losing to Fairfield Prep (307.13), Staples (319.58), Cheshire (326.99) and Amity (338.82).
Girls times this week were led by Allison Graham (54.31) and followed by Courtney Kyritz (56.08), Katharine Graham (56.40), co-captain Kailin Edgar (57.28), Abby Howe (60.47), Kelsey Edgar (61.47), Sarah Swirbul (62.46), co-captain Fay Rizzuto (64.52), Hannah Nilsson (67.99) and Taylor Hart (DSQ).
Boys times this week were: Peter Del Col (52.97), co-captain Chris Brophy (55.14), Matt Nelson (56.05), Nick Wolf (58.21), Graham Lesco (59.17), Mike Rizzuto (60.61), co-captain Will McCoy (62.45), Chris von Stuelpnagel (63.46), co-captain Andy Mogenson DSQ and Pablo Castro (DSQ).

“The boys had a tough night in the poor ski conditions and their record is 6 wins and 10 losses, so they have their have their work cut out for them next week to qualify for states," Darien coach Brian Zeyer said .
"The girls continue to do well and stand at 8 wins and 4 losses, but can’t let down next week against a strong field. They’re all doing their best to qualify for the state competition later this month.”
3. Darien basketball teams face Wilton
Coming off a 66-53 loss to Norwalk, the Darien girls basketball team continues its difficult stretch on Tuesday when the Blue Wave hosts Wilton at 7 p.m.
Meg Marren scored 24 points and Kate Bushell added 15 against Norwalk for the Blue Wave, who had a two-game winning streak.
The defeat to Norwalk knocked Darien (9-7, 8-6) out of an FCIAC playoff spot as they are tied with Fairfield Warde and Westill for ninth place in the standins. Those three teams are one game behind Norwalk, Stamford and Staples, who are tied for sixth at 9-5 in league play.
Wilton (11-4, 11-3) rates as perhaps the FCIAC's biggest surprise this season and is on the verge of securing a playoff spot. The Warriors hold the No. 3 spot in a tiebreaker with St. Joseph.
Wilton routed Bassick 63-11 on Thursday after falling to Staples 53-48 earlier in the week.
The Darien boys (2-13, 1-11) visit Wilton in a 7 p.m. start. The Blue Wave is coming off a 52-30 loss to Norwalk while the Warriors fell to Bassick 85-67 on Thursday.
Wilton (6-8, 4-8), which has dropped two in a row after reaching .500, needs two wins to clinch its first state tournament berth since 1999.
