Darien Boys Hockey in Face-off with Ridgefield

After ending New Canaan's two-year reign as FCIAC champions with a 5-2 win on Wednesday, the boys hockey team looks for its first league title in four years on Saturday when the Blue Wave takes on Ridgefield in the tier one final.
Faceoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Terry Conners Rink in Stamford and will follow the tier two final between Trumbull and Westhill, which gets under way at 4 p.m.
Brendan Hathaway had a hat trick on Wednesday as the Blue Wave improved to 16-5 in the rubber match this season against their archrivals. Darien defeated New Canaan 6-1 in December before the Rams snapped Darien's 11-game winning streak with a 4-0 victory last month.

Ridgefield (19-2) advanced with a convincing 6-0 blanking of St. Joseph on Wednesday.
While the Blue Wave were out to avenge their earlier loss to New Canaan, Hathaway knows the roles will be reversed on Saturday as Darien snapped the Tigers' 14-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory on Feb. 14.

"Ridgefield is going to come out for some revenge," he said. "We're going to have to come out just as hard as we did last time and beat them again."
