Darien Swimmers Place In Top 5 At CT Class L Championships
The Class L girls swimming championships took place Wednesday at the Wesleyan University pool.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — One of the most highly-decorated programs in Connecticut history turned in a dominating performance at the CIAC Class L girls swimming championships Wednesday in the pool at Wesleyan University.
Cheshire High School compiled 854 points to easily outdistance runner-up Darien, which had 665. New Canaan was third with 611.
Swimmers from Cheshire captured nine of the 12 individual events in leading the Rams to their first state title since 2009. The program has now accumulated 19 Class L championships, two LL titles, six M crowns and 13 State Open victories since 1978.

One state record (SR) was broken during the meet, while a pair of new Class L standards (LR) were set. Two swimmers each won two individual events.
