Darien Teen Arrested for DUI

The teen turned off his vehicle's headlights as he passed a police cruiser, according to police.

DARIEN, CT—A 17-year-old male Darien resident was arrested after he was found driving under the influence, according to police.

An officer had just wrapped up a call on Long Neck Point Road and was heading to another call when he observed a Jeep Wrangler driving in the opposite lane of traffic. The vehicle's lights were turned off as it passed the cruiser, police said. It also went over the double yellow line.

The teen driver was searched and police found 9.2 grams of marijuana, according to police. The driver failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. His BAC level registered as .0 and he submitted to a urine test to test for other substances.

He admitted to having one or two beers earlier in the night, police said.

He was charged with DUI, failure to drive right and failure to illuminate headlights.
