Darien Thief Apparently Takes Cash, Leaves Another Car Key Behind: PD

DARIEN, CT—Police are investigating an odd theft where a thief or someone else left a car key to another vehicle inside a burglarized vehicle.

A thief or thieves took credit cards and cash out of a purse that was left in a vehicle at the Woodway Country Club. The vehicle was left unlocked.

The vehicle owner came back to the vehicle and noticed a car key that didn't belong to her, police said.

She put the key on a nearby curb and later realized her purse was ransacked.

Officers went back to the scene to locate the set of keys, but were unable to find them.
